Problem Statement
AI agents that do research need to call multiple paid services: web search, scraping, AI synthesis, and email delivery. Today this requires pre-configuring separate API keys and credit cards for each service. If any account is suspended or a payment processor blocks a transaction, the agent breaks mid-task. The human has no transparent, enforceable way to set a budget — spending limits live inside company databases, not on-chain where they cannot be altered unilaterally. There is no default way for an agent to bootstrap its own payment infrastructure and start working immediately.
AgentResearch is an autonomous research agent that pays for every API call in USDC on Base. Give it a question and a USDC budget — it searches the web via Exa, scrapes top results via Firecrawl, synthesizes a report via Gemini, and emails it via Resend. Every call is paid per-use. No pre-configured API keys. No centralized payment processor. Full on-chain audit trail.

AgentResearch demonstrates that agents should be able to bootstrap their own payment infrastructure without human setup. This pattern is generalizable to any agent that needs paid external services.
