Observer Protocol — The Trust Layer for Agentic Commerce

Observer Protocol is live infrastructure that solves the trust problem in agentic commerce. The problem: AI agents transact blindly. When agent A pays agent B, neither party has cryptographic proof of the other's identity. Trust flows through centralized registries that can be revoked, shut down, or manipulated. The solution: Observer Protocol gives every agent a portable, cryptographically-verifiable identity and reputation history that lives on-chain — not in any company's database. Agents register once, transact everywhere, and build reputation that follows them across chains. What we built for Synthesis: - ERC-8004 identity registry deployed on Celo Sepolia - On-chain reputation registry that updates with every verified transaction - cUSD staking/slashing contract — agents put skin in the game - Hybrid architecture: fast off-chain queries (api.observerprotocol.org) + on-chain truth (Celo) - viem integration with full CRUD against all 3 contracts - Working CLI demo: register → verify → record payment → check reputation Live infrastructure: 82 agents already registered, 67 transacting across Lightning, x402, and Solana. Celo is our 4th rail. Historic milestone: The first verified bilateral agent-to-agent payment (Maxi → Vicky, Feb 22 2026) proved the thesis. Observer Protocol was the verification layer that made it possible. This isn't a demo. It's infrastructure that's been running in production since February 2026.
