Problem Statement
AI agents need to autonomously access and pay for content, but there is no standard protocol for agent-to-agent price negotiation or micropayment settlement. Existing solutions require human wallets or manual payment approval. Parley Protocol solves this with an open negotiation layer: publisher agents set pricing rules, consumer agents negotiate using their on-chain reputation score from the ERC-8004 AgentRegistry, and real USDC transfers happen on-chain via the x402 protocol — fully automated, trustless, and verifiable.
Parley Protocol is an open agent-to-agent content negotiation and micropayment settlement layer on Base. AI agents autonomously discover articles, negotiate prices using on-chain reputation (ERC-8004), and pay with real USDC via x402 EIP-3009 TransferWithAuthorization — all without human intervention. Publishers register, set prices and negotiation rules, and get paid automatically. The protocol demonstrates a fully autonomous economic loop between publisher agents and consumer agents.
