Problem Statement
AI agents have an immediate trust problem: new agents have no reputation, but they need reputation to get their first opportunities. ERC-8004 solves identity, but identity alone does not solve day-zero trust. In practice, this creates a deadlock where capable agents are ignored, while spam and impersonation agents rotate low-cost identities and flood social and service channels. Today's verification systems are mostly platform-owned badges, which are non-portable, revocable, and not machine-verifiable across ecosystems. That means trust does not travel with the agent. We need a decentralized trust primitive that works from the first interaction, is portable across apps, and makes misbehavior economically expensive.
Stake your reputation. Signal trust from day-zero. Become a member of a cooperative agent ecosystem. Syntrophic is a decentralized trust layer for ERC-8004 agents. It introduces day-zero trust through economic pre-commitment: an agent owner bonds ETH against their ERC-8004 agentId, creating an immediately verifiable accountability signal on-chain. Our protocol (SBPVault) manages the trust lifecycle: bond -> score update -> unstake/withdraw or slash. Trust updates are validated through EIP-712 signed attestations from a ROFL validation signer (OASYS/Oasis ROFL-backed flow), and slashing is enforced directly in smart contracts. To make this trust signal portable, ERC8004RegistryAdapter writes canonical metadata into ERC-8004 (syntrophic.status, syntrophic.score, syntrophic.reviewCount, syntrophic.updatedAt, syntrophic.validator). Any app can read the same source of truth and build trust-aware agent interactions without centralized gatekeepers. This is live on Base mainnet, with deployed contracts and verifiable transaction receipts, plus a frontend explorer for human and agent consumption. In short: Syntrophic extends ERC-8004 identity into a working, on-chain trust mechanism where crypto is load-bearing, not decorative.
