Problem Statement
The global fortune-telling and divination market is worth $392B, yet every existing crypto fortune-telling project relies on speculative tokens — creating pump-and-dump dynamics that undermine the actual service value. Meanwhile, AI Agents are emerging as autonomous economic actors that need to discover and pay for services programmatically, but there are almost no cultural or lifestyle services available in the agent-to-agent economy. TianMing takes the opposite approach: pure USDC micropayments via the x402 protocol on Base, with no token and no subscription. Each fortune-telling request costs $0.50-$2.00 in USDC, settled on-chain with zero gas cost to the user (ERC-3009 off-chain signatures). This makes traditional Chinese divination accessible to both human users and AI Agents as a standard HTTP API — the first cultural service in the x402 Bazaar ecosystem.
TianMing is an x402-native AI fortune-telling API service deployed on Base. It combines traditional Chinese divination — Bazi (Four Pillars of Destiny), synastry compatibility analysis, character readings, financial forecasts, and luck analysis — with modern AI interpretation powered by multiple LLM providers. Every paid endpoint uses the x402 protocol for USDC micropayments: clients receive a 402 response with payment instructions, sign an ERC-3009 authorization off-chain (zero gas), and the facilitator settles on Base. No tokens, no subscriptions — just per-request USDC payments. The API is designed to serve both human users (via frontend apps) and AI Agents (via direct HTTP + x402), making it the first cultural/divination service in the x402 ecosystem. Key technical highlights: - Bazi calculation using tyme4ts library with true solar time correction (suncalc) based on birth coordinates - Skill-based AI Agent architecture with tool calling (calculate_bazi tool) - BullMQ async job queue for long-running AI report generation - Privy Server Auth for wallet-based authentication - Full x402 payment integration with automatic payment record tracking - 5 analysis types: bazi-analysis, character-analysis, life-analysis, financial-analysis, luck-analysis - Synastry (compatibility) reports between two people - Comprehensive E2E test suite including on-chain x402 payment flow tests - Deployed and running on a production server with CI/CD via GitHub Actions
