Problem Statement
AI agents moving money on behalf of humans face a critical trust gap: no transparent way to scope what an agent can spend, verify spending correctness, or guarantee settlement without a middleman. Current solutions either give agents full access (dangerous) or require human approval for every transaction (defeats autonomy). The x402 protocol solves this by enabling HTTP-native payments with delegation-based spending limits, creating the trust layer between human intent and agent execution.
A complete infrastructure suite demonstrating how AI agents can autonomously move money with scoped permissions, transparent audit trails, and onchain settlement using the x402 protocol. Five production-ready demo apps built by Sam (AI Developer Advocate) showing real-world agent payment patterns: budget management, API gateways with pay-per-call, delegation audit trails, multi-agent expense splitting, and a strategic comparison of DeFi vs TradFi approaches.
