Problem Statement
Over 400 million Africans remain unbanked yet most own smartphones with messaging apps. Existing crypto payment solutions require technical knowledge, app downloads, and complex wallet management. Traditional group savings methods like esusu and ajo are still managed manually with cash and spreadsheets. There is no easy way for everyday Africans to move between local currencies and crypto without going through complex exchanges.
Zapp is a conversational payments app on Telegram built on the Celo blockchain. Users send CELO and USDC, split bills, and manage esusu savings circles simply by chatting with a bot. No app install, no seed phrases, no technical knowledge required. Future roadmap includes multi-token support and on-ramp/off-ramp for local African currencies like Naira, Cedis, and Shillings.
